Chelsea have released their new home kit for the 2021/22 season.
It’s that time of year when clubs release their new threads, usually
wearing them for the first time in the latter stages of the campaign
ahead of August’s fresh start.
And after a slew of leaked designs, Chelsea have now confirmed
their new bike kit ahead of the new season with a striking
resemblance to the latest leaked shirt.
The kit is said to be 60s inspired with a yellow trim, two-tone blue
with a combination of chequered and zig-zags running through the
shirt, along with the usual Three sponsor.
Inspired by the 60s, but as fresh as they come,” says the official
release with an interesting video dropping to launch the new home
shirt.
Men’s first team players Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Callum
Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner were all featured in the video, while
women’s team stars Sam Kerr and Penille Harder also featured.
The whacky video has a heavy 60s theme, showing Werner getting
the shirt out of a washing machine, while Ziyech plays the piano
and Kerr steps out of a phonebox.
Mount then busts out the new threads in a backdrop of old
televisions and Hudson-Odoi takes to the DJ decks.
The shorts and socks haven’t been shown in the release, but it’s
expected the shorts will be the traditional blue with the yellow trim
from under the arm of the shirt running down the side of the
shorts.
Chelsea are set to debut the new kit on Saturday when they face
Leicester City in the FA Cup final.
Though, Chelsea did have some bad luck when wearing next
season’s new shirt in the 2008 Champions League final, so they
might want to stick with their current threads for that all-important
final with Manchester City.
