Phil Foden admitted that the Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante, is
the toughest player he’s ever faced.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Manchester City marvel got asked who
was the most challenging defender he’s confronted.
Instead of naming a traditional centre-half or full-back, Foden
selected Chelsea’s French fancy as his most fierce opponent.
Foden’s no.1 foe
“He’s probably the most obvious one, but it’s Kante,” said the City star.
“He’s just everywhere. You think you’ve got away from him but
he’s always just by your side.
He does everything. He runs everywhere. He’s such a great player.
I’d probably say he’s my toughest opponent I’ve played against.”
Not many have been able to keep Foden down this season, so its
certainly high praise from the newly crowned Premier League
champion.
In fairness, Kante would probably top most lists for the trickiest
adversary.
Paul Pogba certainly agrees.
When asked to pick his most problematic foe during a Q&A
session on Manchester United’s official website, Pogba said: “My
toughest opponent on the pitch? To be honest, it’s tough against
N’Golo Kante.”
Yes he Kan-te
Kante’s relentless energy and ability to read the game make him a
nightmare rival, but an ideal teammate.
The 30-year-old has faced a few niggling injuries in the past year.
However, when he’s been available, he’s been brilliant.
In both Champions League semi-final legs against Real Madrid, he
was named man of the match.
Thomas Tuchel will need him fit for the Blues final two fixtures,
away to Aston Villa in the league, then versus Manchester City in
the Champions League main event.
Hopefully, Foden can come face to face with his most annoying
antagonist once again.
